The East Texas Weekend’s Guide to 2018 Summer Festivals

East Texas is gearing up for a great summer. From tomatoes to blueberries to hot air balloons don’t expect things to slow down anytime soon. Here’s your guide to festivals and major events to mark on your calendar. Check back for updates as we get them.

June 2018


Tomato Festival

June 2nd – 10th

This is the largest festival in Cherokee County. The 34th Annual Tomato Festival is all things tomatoes. For a schedule of events click here.

 Gladewater Rodeo Round-Up 

June 6th – 9th

 The Gladewater Rodeo is a family-friendly event. We offer events for all ages, from our 6 & under Mutton Busters to the adult rodeo events. The Gladewater Rodeo was founded in 1937 by Jack Yates and is nationally recognized as one of Texas’ top rodeos. For ticket information click here.

Texas Blueberry Festival

June 9th

The Texas Blueberry Festival is the most delicious festival in the Lone Star State— a day-long celebration of the annual blueberry harvest. As the only state-sanctioned blueberry festival in Texas, this delicious annual event attracts more than 19,000 people to downtown Nacogdoches. It offers a smorgasbord of activities to keep folks entertained all day long.

Pine Curtain Music Festival

June 16th

A first of it’s kind, True Vine Brewing Company is hosting The Oh Hellos and Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors for the Pine Curtain Music Festival. There will be food trucks, beer, pizza and of course music. For ticket information click here.

July 2018


Paris Balloon & Music Festival

July 20th – 22nd

Lamar County Fairgrounds, Paris
The Lamar County Fairgrounds is ready to open their gates for the annual Paris Balloon and Music Festival, which includes the Tour de Paris Bicycle Rally. On Friday night, the gates open at 5 p.m. and there will be monster truck rides, food trucks, a kids zone and a 7:45 p.m. balloon glow. On Saturday, the gates open at 5 p.m. and there will be tethered balloon rides, more monster truck rides, live music and more. Admission is $5 on both days.

80th Annual Watermelon Festival & Rodeo

July 26th – 29th

This is one of the biggest events around Naples. The Watermelon Festival is held each year on the last full weekend in July. The event draws people from far and wide, and a good time is had by all. The Watermelon Festival has one of the major parades in North East Texas, many craft booths, special entertainment, a street dance, and a fully sanctioned PRCA rodeo during the week of events. The rodeo starts at 8 p.m. each night.

The Great Texas Balloon Race

July 27th – 29th

It’s a world class event attracting the very best competitive pilots from across the United States and the world. Considered by many of the pilots that compete at the Great Texas Balloon Race to be the best run event on the circuit, the Great Texas Balloon Race earned Longview the official designation as “The Balloon Capital of Texas” by the Governor of Texas in 1985.

Shadow Renaissance Festival & Jousting Tournament

July 28th – 29th

Hopkins County Regional Civic Theater, Sulphur Springs
Shadow Renaissance Festival is  a 2 day event featuring vendors, activities for the whole family, and the main attraction – full contact jousting featuring The Knights of Valour with Shane Adams from the hit tv show Full Metal Jousting on History! There will also be a Nobleman’s Feast with the knights before each of the two shows for VIP ticket holders! Shadow Ranch Therapeutic Riding Center is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of kids and adults with disabilities and/or debilitating situations in their lives and to make a positive difference in the lives of staff, volunteers, and community.
