Feast your eyes on handmade works of art at Blueberry Festival of Quilts

The Nacogdoches Quilters Guild will hold the Blueberry Festival of Quilts on Friday, June 10, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, June 11, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fredonia Hill Baptist Church, 1711 South St., approximately 1.5 miles south of downtown Nacogdoches.

The show is held every two years, and is a part of the Texas Blueberry Festival presented by Tipton Ford. “The quilt show includes demonstrations, displays, vendors specific to the craft, door prizes, a Country Store, a silent auction and a judging show,” quilters guild member Dawn Radnitzer said. “Prize ribbons will be awarded in several categories, including a Blue and White category in honor of the blueberry festival.” Admission is $5 and is good for both days.

“The donation quilt made by several members of the guild will be a grand raffle prize, and the winner will be chosen at the close of the show,” Radnitzer said. “Proceeds from the raffle will benefit Love In the Name of Christ and our local Senior Center.”

Raffle tickets are available now for $1 each or 6 tickets for $5.

Nacogdoches Quilters Guild meetings are held on the second Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Appleby Sand Rd. New members and visitors are always welcome.
