In J.S. Puller’s “Women Who Weave,” 12-year-old Atalanta is convinced that being female means giving up any chance at being heroic. Her mother comforts her with the stories of the Fates, three goddesses who weave the destiny of all human beings. A dream carries Atalanta to the loom of the Fates, where she discovers that heroism has more to do with the decisions we make than the fate we’re born into.

2nd Annual Bee Day in the Garden

Keep Tyler Beautiful will be celebrating the 2nd Annual Bee Day in the Garden on Thursday, June 23 from 4 - 6 p.m. at the Tyler Rose Garden, located at 420 Rose Park Drive. This event is a culmination of a week’s long celebration of National Pollinator Week and celebrates our favorite pollinator, the honeybee.

All Bee Day in the Garden activities and educational workshops are free of cost. Vendors and food trucks will be fee.

Dicey/Spicy Bunco Tournament

UT Tyler Jazz Camp Faculty Concert with guest artist Chad LB

This is going to be one concert NOT to miss! Join us on the beautiful campus of UT Tyler for an evening featuring our Jazz Camp Faculty in concert with the amazing saxophonist, Chad LB!

Hailed as a “Sax Phenom” by the New York Daily News, Chad LB has toured globally as a bandleader, and with superstars ranging from Chris Botti to Taylor Swift. He has been a featured soloist with premiere ensembles like the Juilliard Jazz Orchestra, and he was formerly a prominent member of the multi GRAMMY winning Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra. At only 31-years-old, Chad has now become one of the first jazz headliners of his generation, amassing a loyal social media fanbase of over 250,000 followers across platforms. Despite his demanding tour schedule, Chad continues to be a visiting artist at the renowned San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he gives monthly masterclasses during the scholastic year.

Beat the summer heat by playing some games at the Tyler Library! We will have a wide display of board games for all ages, as well as a Mario Kart Tournament for anyone to play in. Game Day will start at Noon in the Taylor Auditorium!

4th Annual BackStory Brewery BBQ Contest

• When: Noon
• Where: BackStory Brewery, Sulphur Springs
• Cost: $10

We are starting our 4th annual BBQ contest.

There will be 3 categories, Brisket, Ribs, and Chicken. This is a competitive and a judged competition! Our first celebrity judge is Congressman #Patfallon. Thousands in cash prize money will be given out this day to winners. Brisket is our Grand Prize winner.

If you back-yard-cook, gill, smoke or just want to have fun, this is the event in East Texas Event to go to.

Signs up are limited for the cooks and admission for the public cost is 10$ This is all you can eat while food lasts and gets you into the concert that night by #Nevermind

We will also have Raffle tickets for sale on items that you will want, all the profits go to charity.

For the cooks- the event starts the night before and goes all night with special things just for you.

Beach Girl Cookie Decorating Workshop

You will receive 6 COOKIES TO DECORATE and access to the necessary supplies and tools to work with. You will be instructed on how to decorate your cookies in an easy to understand, step by step tutorial. This is a fun and casual atmosphere that you can enjoy with friends and family.

You will decorate your cookies using our special blend of royal-glaze icing. A COVERED COOKIE BOX will be provided for you to carry home your delicious treats to enjoy!

Please come a little early to get seated and settled in so we can get settled in and begin promptly at 4:30 p.m. You do not need to bring a printed ticket - just purchase online and you will receive an emailed confirmation. We look forward to seeing you there!

Chess Club at Plaza Tower

Chess club every Friday evening 5pm at Gallery Main Street (the lobby within Plaza Tower on the Square). Darreion Bailey is a chess master heading the group, for all ages and skill levels. Free, fun, and mentally challenging. Bring your own clocks if you want to play timed! Feel free to bring your own board also.
