There are many things that can bring a community together, like music, pets, a comfortable place to wind down, or how about a refreshing drink. A little rarer is a place that can combine all that we love into one place, and that’s exactly what Fredonia Brewery does.
Fredonia Brewery has been serving the town of Nacogdoches, and all those who visit, since 2017. With Nacogdoches considered to be the oldest town in Texas, you’d be surprised to learn that the Fredonia Brewery is the first brewery to be there in over a century. When you visit you’ll find they have 9 brews year-round, with seasonal and special brews making guest appearances. For those that may have a different taste, there are ciders and some wine from Messina Hof Winery also available .
“When we came out with the beers, we didn’t just come out with the beers I like, Paul-type beers,” said Paul Murray, partner and brewer. “We were looking at the palette of our regions, to have beers that answer to that, so people can find what they’d like to enjoy.”
And even if you aren’t quite sure what kind of beer is for you, Operations Manager Jack Sullivan added “Even if somebody isn’t a beer fan, they’ve usually had at least one beer they’ve liked in the past. You can help guide them one way or another to the right beer.” For SFA fans, a portion of sales of “Purple Lights” brew go towards the SFA Athletics. Plus, you can get some cans to go if you find some brews you love or to grab a new one you don’t have a chance to try while you’re at the brewery.
You’ve got something to drink, but how about food? How about entertainment? How about music? They’ve STILL got you covered. Located in the beer garden, which has over 30 large tables, shade, and beautifully landscaped, you can enjoy food from Rebellion Pizza and rotating food trucks that visit each weekend. To best see what’s coming up and happening at Fredonia Brewery, you can check out their calendar of events, which features the live music, which food trucks are there, and special events that are happening! (Like Lone Star Trivia, their Dog Days of Summer, New to Nac Happy Hours)
“We’ve had everything, we’ve had wedding announcements, to weddings, to wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners,” said Murray. With a quick add from Sullivan, “I say baby showers, to wakes, and everything in between, we’ve done it. It’s a common space for everybody to get together.”
So when you need a friendly patio and a drink in hand, you, the family, your friends, and even the pets, can head on out to Fredonia Brewery for a weekend well spent.
