A brand new contemporary pop musical based on the life of Jesus is having it’s world premiere this May in Dallas!
‘His Story: The Musical’, created by Anna Miriam Brown, will begin performances on May 5th, 2023, at the new Broadway Tent at Grandscape. This production is directed by two-time Tony nominee Jeff Calhoun. Producers are Tony nominee Bruce Lazarus, and Willie & Korie Robertson from Duck Dynasty.
“The heart of his story emanates form the messages of love, compassion, and redemption delivered entirely through Anna’s music and magnified by the ingenious choreography of Eamon Foley. Add to that the stunning vocal arrangements by Rick Hip Flores and spectacular visuals from Broadway’s celebrated set designer, Tobin Ost,” said Calhoun.
Here is a quick synopsis of the upcoming show, found on their website, “His Story: The Musical is a Broadway-style theatrical event, 2000 years in the making. In this new contemporary pop musical based on the life of Jesus, a common-man-from-a-sketchy-family arrives in the big city and defies expectations. He speaks great wisdom, but chooses friends from the dregs of society and hangs out in the wrong part of town. Mocked by the establishment, he is adored by the people. His Story: The Musical brings this iconic story into the third millennium with a contemporary voice and timeless perspective that engages the essential struggles of our global humanity reminding all of the universal power of love and redemption.”
“Immediately on hearing the music I knew I had to bring this show to a worldwide audience,” said Lazarus. “People needed to experience the magic of Anna’s telling of this familiar story in a most unfamiliar way; making Jesus easily relatable to a new generation.”
