Gardening Resources

  • When: 10:00 AM - 10:30 AM
  • Where: Kilgore Public Library
  • Cost: Free

Learn about the library’s gardening resources (including our Seed Library!) and make your own simple garden markers. The Evergreen Gardening Club will have their meeting afterwards.

Book & Build

  • When: 10:30 AM - 11:15 AM
  • Where: Marshall Public Library
  • Cost: Free

After listening to a construction-themed picture book for inspiration, children will be encouraged to build with blocks, boxes, and whatever else the Library Squad can find! Especially for toddlers and preschoolers.

Storytime

  • When: 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM
  • Where: Tyler Public Library
  • Cost: Free

Join library staff weekly for reading, singing, activities, and playtime at library storytimes in the auditorium!

Discovery Kids STEM Lab

  • When: 4:30 PM - 5:00 PM
  • Where: Longview Public Library
  • Cost: Free

Every Thursday, kids can join us in the youth services department to take part in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Lab project.

It’s the perfect after school opportunity to learn AND have fun! All supplies will be provided, and no sign-up or cost required.

Family Night at True Vine

  • When: 6:00 PM
  • Where: True Vine Brewing Company, Tyler
  • Cost: Free

Bring your family for a fun evening at True Vine/ Sola Bread Co. in Tyler! Grab drinks, dinner or a snack from the bakery & let the kids play in the outdoor, fenced play area. Excited to see you!

Movies @ The Barn

First Weekend 2023 - Harp & Strings Concert

With music of joy, hope and renewal, join New Texas Sinfonia in welcoming the New Year! The program includes timeless favorites by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Florence Price, and Antonin Dvořák.

Live Stand Up Comedy

2023 Longview Challenge - Disc Golf

Fiddle Zoo for Kids

Fiddle Zoo for Kids is a fun and exciting instrument petting zoo for children of all ages and their families. Come and go anytime from 10-11:30 am to enjoy music themed games and activities, orchestra storytime, a meet and greet with New Texas Sinfonia performers, and numerous live performances. Refreshments provided.

Cozy Up with Reading Day

  • When: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Where: Longview Public Library
  • Cost: Free

Let’s embrace the winter weather and cozy up with a good book! We’re dedicating January 7 to a casual free-read-for-all.

Families can drop in anytime, grab some books and spend the day together reading in our Moeschle Meeting Room or the Children’s Department.

There will also be special activities and guests planned hourly throughout the day:

- 10:00 AM - The Boy Scouts of America will read stories aloud to kids.

- 11:00 AM - Community partners and City of Longview employee volunteers will join us for reading time.

- 12:00 PM - Snuggles & Snacks. Get recharged and have a nibble while you read.

- 1:00 PM - The Silver Paw Therapy Dogs will be available for kids to meet and read stories to.

Saturdays on Main

  • When: 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM
  • Where: Downtown Palestine
  • Cost: Free

On the first Saturday of each month, Historic Downtown Palestine is the place to be! Explore quirky antique shops and one of a kind boutiques. Grab lunch at a local dive and then spend the evening around a fire pit with friends in Old Town.

LEGO at the Library Challenge

  • When: 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
  • Where: Longview Public Library
  • Cost: Free

Show us what you can build with your imagination and LEGO blocks! Join us on Saturdays at 11:00 AM at the library for a Free-for-all LEGO build.

Create something original and different based on the theme. Try to stay away from pre-made models.

Movie Matinee at the Library: The Emperor’s New Groove (PG)

East Texas Chamber Winds 2023 Winter Concert

  • When: 7:00 PM
  • Where: Mast Hall Venue, Nacogdoches
  • Cost: Free

The ETCW is happy to announce its 2023 Winter Concert entitled, “Music of France”! Featuring music from French composers Saint-Saens, Francaix, and Gouvy. As always we will be collaborating with Naca Valley Winery to provide a cash bar, and light snacks will be served. Blue Horse Bakery will be selling sweet treats. Admission is free!

All Star Improv

  • When: 8:00 PM
  • Where: The Understudy, Tyler

Improv comedy will be on display at our All Star Improv show. Comedy and theater from talented performers who create a unique show, in real time, off the top of their heads, based on suggestions from you the audience.

Star Party Saturday

  • Where: Center for Earth & Space Science Education, Tyler
  • Cost: Free

Come see what is visible in tonight’s sky! Join us for monthly star parties. Telescopes will be available for viewing (weather permitting) and there will be astronomy buffs to help you navigate your way around the night sky.

Join us in creating and manifesting the year you want. We’ll meditate and envision our goals, and create a visual representation of those goals through watercolor painting and vision boards. Bring your laptop, if you’d like, to be guided on making your vision board virtual for use on your electronic devices.
