Make memories... and a mess... with Art on the Bayou

No matter your age, there are memories to be made and experiences to enjoy when you make a stop at Art on the Bayou Gallery in Jefferson!

Angie Hudson opened Art on the Bayou in the spring of 2022, and it provides classes, art to purchase, handmade local crafts and artisan goods, and the very unique splatter room for some *literal* hands on entertainment.

“I knew in my heart I wanted to get back to being creative and artsy, and the bigger shop had kept me from doing that,” said Hudson. “This is a really convenient close place where we could bring it to me. And so the classes, selling some of the more artisan items, and the splatter room was just kind of an afterthought, which has been like the best because it is so much fun.”

There are multiple options for how you tackle your splatter time, whether you’re covered in a poncho or bringing some clothes that become part of the painting, and there can be up to 10 people at a time in the room! Reservations are required so make sure to check in online and get your time scheduled early.

More than making a mess, there are many classes and workshops to enjoy each week with painting, yoga, Zumba, cookie decorating, and even a belly dancing class to try out.

“You never know what’s going to be in here or what will be going on. Our classes change up monthly,” said Hudson. “Even just to go in to buy stained glass or artisan jewelry or Talavera pottery all the different types of artisan items that we sell upfront. It’s something for everybody.”

Art on the Bayou is the place to be yourself and leave not only with local crafts, but memories with your friends and family.

They are located at 205 North Walnut Street in Jefferson. To learn how to book your time in the splatter room or to see when classes and workshops are happening, check out the Art on the Bayou website or visit their Facebook page.
