Learn How to Make King Cake Calzones

BATON ROUGE, La. (THE LOUISIANA WEEKEND) - Calzones have become America’s neatest ways to consume a pizza.  All of the toppings are the inside so that your hands can remain grease free.  The calzone seems to stay hotter longer than a slice of pizza. Have you ever had a dessert calzone?  A Mardi Gras calzone?

Rotolos Pizzeria has a special item on the menu this Mardi Gras season.  They are offering King Cake Calzones.  These calzones are filled with cream cheese, cinnamon sugar, apples and baked to perfection.  Once the calzone comes out of the oven, they are brushed with melted butter.  Then the calzone is topped with purple, green, and gold sanding sugar. These calzones are delicious!

We spoke with Mitch Rotolo who told us about growing up in Louisiana and why Rotolos wants all of their customers to enjoy Mardi Gras.  The king cake calzone is available in all 31 Rotolos locations.  Even those outside of Louisiana can enjoy this Mardi Gras treat.
