Library Book Sale

Book sale season begins!

Come find $1.00 deals (unless marked otherwise) on gently used books, movies, and CDs for your home library.

All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Longview Public Library, which is then used to improve library facilities, and fund library events/programs.

Book & Build

After listening to a construction-themed picture book for inspiration, children will be encouraged to build with blocks, boxes, and whatever else the Library Squad can find! Especially for toddlers and preschoolers.

FRIDAY, 1/27

Longview Symphony Orchestra - Bach’s Lunches

  • Where: First Presbyterian Church, Longview

These lunchtime recitals feature the music of Bach and other classical pieces while showcasing local musicians. There is no charge for these concerts.

Each concert is held on a Friday at a church in downtown Longview. Our average attendance is 200 per concert. This concert series appeals to a diverse group of people that love classical music. You will find employees enjoying a lunchtime work break, home school students and moms, buses from retirement groups, and patrons of our Longview Symphony.

Beckah Shae Live in Concert

Seed Library Kick-Off

MPL Seed Library is an initiative to provide FREE seeds to the community, encourage spending time outdoors, and assist your goals for growing something amazing! We invite anyone interested in having seeds for gardening to see what we have available. We are beginning with a wide variety of seeds donated by Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company, Ferry-Morse Seed Company, and Park Seed Company. To keep our Seed Library going, we hope that seed-borrowers will save some seeds at the end of the growing season for return to the library.

100 Year Celebration of George Washington Carver Tour

100 Years Ago this week, George Washington Carver Toured Tyler Texas for a public speaking engagement at Texas College of Tyler on the Tuesday evening of January 30, 1923. George Washington Carver Tour was arranged under the auspices of Jarvis Christian Institute in Hawkins, Texas.

The America Film Institute ranks Buster Keaton’s The General as the 18th best American film of all time. Experience a screening of this classic silent film, with the soundtrack performed live by the ETSO and conductor Richard Lee.

Keaton was famous for his deadpan humor and dangerous stunt work. Both are showcased in this story of a Confederate soldier who must recapture his beloved locomotive after it is seized by Union spies and return it through enemy lines.
