Bringing the taste of South America to East Texas, Lemon Yellow Latin Bites is a one-of-a-kind bakery providing a slice of comfort food that will seem familiar to some, while showing off some specialty dishes to those who have never experienced these Latin flavors!

What started as a dream for Co-owner Tahidí Perez, came true when she teamed up with Cris Berlingeri to create a fusion of flavor from their home countries.

“The dream came from Venezuela because I worked there in a bakery. So in my house, always we sell food. So when we moved here, I just started dreaming,” said Perez. Berlingeri, who moved from Puerto Rico to Texas to finish her training to be a physician, added “When we met, we had kind of like the same concepts, same idea. I remember the day that I learned how to bake my favorite Puerto Rican pastry. My first reaction was people in Tyler need to know about this.”

Since the grand opening in February 2023, that dream has a home, bringing sweet desserts but also savory treats that are unlike many of the tastes you can find typically here in East Texas. You can indulge in dishes such as arepas, empanadas, and tequeños, as well as some special treats like guava cheesecake, passion fruit pie, and alfajores.

“I think Tyler was ready for a place like ours with this Latin flair. There’s nothing like this in East Texas,” said Berlingeri. “And not only the food. Everybody loves the food. I mean, everybody that comes here like, ‘Oh, wow, this is so delicious.’ But not only that, they love the atmosphere. They love the friendliness of our staff, just the warm environment that they come to when they come to Lemon Yellow.”

One goal of Lemon Yellow, is to bring back a sense of community and bring people together, and food is the perfect tool to unite people of all cultures.

“In our culture, we have this place called panaderias and reposterias, which is just a place that they make bread. But it’s more than that. They make bread, they make lunch, they make coffee. You always see that person that’s always in that table. People know you. And we just I just miss having a place like that,” said Berlingeri.

Lemon Yellow Latin Bites is open Monday-Saturday from 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM & Sundays from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM. They are located at 2443 Mosaic Way Suite A in Tyler.
