When it’s time for a vacation, many people like to hop in the car or on a place and travel to a faraway resort for some peace and relaxation, but did you know there’s a resort waiting for you right here in East Texas?
Stillwater RV Resort brings the feeling of traveling away for a vacation straight to you! Opening on Memorial Day, 2022, Burl Richards & Tim Ashmore created Stillwater where it continues to grow and brings excitement through all its activities and amenities!
“You’re not that far away from home. You don’t have to travel that far,” said Richards. “If someone’s thinking about maybe getting an RV, they can come here and rent one for the week or weekend and they can kind of see how that experience goes before they go out and make that purchase.”
There are 171 RV spots at the resort, with 10 of them being rentals for those who don’t have an RV. As Richards said, this is a great way to try out the RV experience before purchasing your own and traveling. Also on the property, there is a house for rent that can fit 16 people with multiple bedrooms and plenty of room for more than one family headed to the resort together.
To beat the Texas heat, there are multiple water options right in the middle of the resort! First off, there’s a family pool area where you can relax and children can play, while around that is a salt water lazy river, which also means no chlorine smell while you sit back and drift down the river. Nearby this area, there’s a 21+ pool with a swim-up bar and tables in the water for groups to beat the heat.

Surrounding the pools are luxury cabanas that you can rent and enjoy a cool place to sit and enjoy poolside food and drink service!
“We want to take the work and the hassle out of RVing. That’s why we have all the amenities that we have. That’s why we have a full restaurant,” said Richards. “We have a coffee bar, we have ice cream, we have snow cones, we have the arcade, we have a workout room, and we also have a general store.”
With all these options for food and play, there’s almost no reason to even leave the resort once you’ve made it in!
Something that will really get the children and teens excited though, is the Wibit Lake Obstacle Course!
“That’s been really, really one of the top things for the kids. They just can’t get enough of it,” said Ashmore about the Wibit course. “And the parents love it because the kids sleep really good at the end of the day.”

But the most important part of it all, the part that keeps the resort running and providing all these exciting options, are the people who stay each week and keep checking out what’s new and happening at Stillwater!
“It’s really neat to have people walk in the door with a smile on their face and an ice cream, be able to just get away,” said Richards. Both Richards and Ashmore agreed that it’s seeing the RV community come in, have an exciting time, and meet new friends that makes them proud.
Throughout the year, there are many different events going on and the team at Stillwater continues to come up with new ways to stay excited and keep experiencing something new right here in East Texas.
“We’re learning a lot. We continue to learn a lot. Again, both of us (Ashmore & Richards) were RVers for years, but there’s a difference between going somewhere and staying in an RV and managing and running an RV resort,” said Richards. “At the end of the day, for me and our staff, it’s like, look, we want to we want to provide friendly service, five-star service with everything that we have with our amenities.”
