Valentines POP UP Shop

“1. POP UP SHOP: We will create a fun vintage valentines day shopping area for you to POP in ANYTIME Thursday, Friday, or Saturday ( Open 10-4). We’ll have a cute assortment of VINTAGE valentines, Sugar Bakes cookies, Taste and See baked goods, Forever Rebecca’s pillows, earrings, gifts, runners, banners and lots of VINTAGE items from the barn! I’ll be posting pictures of what will be for sale, so stay tuned!

2. VALENTINES CRAFT KITS: We will be offering Valentine kits for you to pick up and make at home again this year. These kits will have all the supplies needed except glue for you to make an adorable vintage style valentine. The kits will be great to mail or give to grandkids, friends or whoever. Kits will be $6 each with assorted themes.

3.VALENTINE IN PERSON CRAFTING: Back by popular demand, we will have the Valentine Crafting Table open on Saturday only. We are taking appointments for 10am, 12pm, 2pm. Payment in advance is required to reserve your seat. $25 per person and you get to make 3 valentines and have access to loads of supplies! East Texas Fruit, Nut, and Vegetable Conference

“The annual East Texas Fruit, Nut and Vegetable Conference, Friday February 9 at the Tyler Rose Garden Center (420 Rose Park Dr. Tyler, Texas 75702) will offer both professional and amateur gardeners tips on blackberries, blueberries, bunch grapes, muscadines, and IPM (Integrated Pest Management) on peppers and tomatoes.Registration will begin at 8 a.m.; followed by the first session at 8:30 a.m. Lunch is provided. Pre-registration is required (for lunch head count) and ends February 7 at 5:00 pm. The cost of the program is $25 (plus 5% convenience fee for online credit card payment). The program will be held in person only. Pre-registration is required for a lunch headcount. To register and pay in person, contact the Smith County Extension Office. One hour of Department of Agriculture IPM CEU will be awarded for this event. However, CE’s (5 hours) for certified Texas Master Gardeners will be.”

Introduction to Photography

“Focus on the art and technical aspects of digital photography. In this class you’ll develop your skills as an amateur photographer by getting to know your settings and how to use proper exposure. You’ll also learn how to capture a great picture because composition is key to telling your story. This class is semi hands on, so bring your camera! Supplies: Students will need to bring: A DSLR camera (fully charged)Memory card. Fresh batteries. Note taking supplies. Students will get a 30 minute lunch break.”

Advanced Beekeeping Class

“Welcome to Advanced Beekeeping! We will continue to build upon the topics we learned in the Beginner Beekeeping class. One step closer to you feeling confident in owning your own hive! This class will cover hive inspections, recognizing brood patterns, harvesting honey, bee behavior, diseases, how to grow your apiary, and pest control. You will also have the opportunity to purchase bees, hives, and beekeeping accessories (suits, gloves, smokers, etc.). Plants of Texas is excited to make all your bee dreams come true in one stop.”

2024 Kid Fish Day @ the Mineola Nature Preserve

Where: Mineola Nature Preserve, Mineola

“On Saturday February 10, 2024, Bridge Bob’s Pond at Mineola Nature Preserve, located on Wood County Road 2724 just south of Mineola, will be the site of the annual “Kids’ Trout Fishing Day.” The event, which is sponsored by Texas Parks & Wildlife Department and the City of Mineola, will run from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The event is free to area youth and adult fishing mentors and no fishing license is required. Anglers are encouraged to bring a light-action rod and reel combo with small fishing hooks, light line (12 lb. test or less), small bobbers and small split shot, and bait to take a chance at catching some of the 1000 rainbow trout that will be stocked by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Whole kernel corn, salmon eggs, marshmallows, small worms, Berkley power bait, and small spinners are generally the favorite baits for trout. If you don’t have fishing gear, volunteers from the local area and TPWD will be on hand to help with fishing and to provide loaner rod and reels and some bait.”
