Master Gardeners at the Library

The next Master Gardeners at the Library lection will be held at noon on Friday, March 15 in the Taylor Auditorium of the Tyler Public Library, 201 So. College in Tyler. SCMG member Lynnette Sewell will speak on Texas Superstars, plants that Texas A&M have determined will do well in every part of our state. This lecture is free and open to the public Parking is available at the library and in the free public garage across the street.

Downtown Longview St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl

Caddo Artist Series: Tracy Newkumet-Burrows - Caddo Functional Gourd Bowl

Where: Caddo Mounds State Historic Site, Alto

Join Caddo artist Tracy Newkumet-Burrows for this one-day journey into functional gourd artwork. Tracy will demonstrate making functional bowls from gourds using natural and other materials. Tracy will discuss the importance of gourds in Caddo culture and art. A variety of materials will be available for use in the creation and decoration of these gourd bowls. This artist workshop is part of a six-part artist series offered by Caddo Mounds State Historic Site. Registration is required. Call 936-858-3218 to register. St. Patty’s Downtown Paris Crawl

We’re back with another Downtown Crawl for St. Patrick’s Day in Downtown Paris, Texas! Love nostalgic steam locomotives? We hope you will make plans to join us on March 16th for our Steam Weekend Season Opener!! Don’t miss this opportunity to ride behind the magnificent locomotives of yesteryear and get up close and personal with these giants! It is always a fun time and a great opportunity to bring the kids out for an educational and inspiring experience! The roundtrip leaves from the Palestine, TX Rail Depot and goes to the Rusk, TX Rail Depot where we stop for lunch before our return trip to Palestine. This is a 4-hour excursion including a 1 ½ hour stop at our Rusk depot where you can enjoy lunch from our Railcar Café. We offer many seating and pricing options. Scott Moser Memorial Skate Contest

The contest will be in two formats, Street and Mini Ramp. It will have participants from all levels and people are coming in from Austin, Dallas, Houston, Louisiana, and Arkansas. There will be vendors and there is a long list of Skateboard Company Sponsors including the local Skate shops Registration for the participants is $20 and that money will go to Cash prizes. There will also be skate related prizes donated by various sponsors. Divisions will be made at registration depending on turn out. Spectators are free!
