4th Annual Remembrance Run

Join us for the 4th Annual Tyler Remembrance Run, benefiting The Children’s Park. We are so excited to put this event on for our community this spring!

Copper Embossed Cedar Birdhouse Workshop

Bring a friend and join professional artist and illustrator Kim Wasson Tener of Bookmark Arts as she shares the relaxing art of copper embossing. With the help of your instructor and gorgeous floral patterns to follow, you will craft a custom roof for your locally made birdhouse.

Beginner Fly Fishing Class

The classes are open to adults and youths accompanied with an adult. No fly-fishing experience is required. Equipment will be provided, but students may bring their own. Instruction will focus on equipment, equipment selection, basic knot tying, casting and casting fundamentals. The $50 fee for the class will include lunch.Bob is a member of Trout Unlimited and lives on Richland-Chambers Reservoir. Bob has fly-fished for trout throughout the U.S. and redfish along the Texas coast as well as tarpon in Puerto Rico. Bob also builds handmade bass and fly rods along with tying his own flies.

Secret Codes of the Underground Railroad

The Pleasant Hill Quilters are a quilting group from Linden, Texas who recreate historic quilts and tell the stories of the enslaved people who used secret codes to escape to freedom on the Underground Railroad. Their presentation of stories and songs will be held on May 4, 2024 at 11:15 am following the Jefferson Pilgrimage Parade and Town Skirmish. Admission is $5.00 per person.

Piney Woods Darkroom Grand Opening & Photo Walk

Film Lives in the Piney Woods region! We’ve been “soft opened” to work out some details, but now it’s Grand Opening time! It’s been about a year since we kicked off our startup fundraising campaign, and we want you to see what we’ve done with your support! We will meet noon, May 4, at Downtown Tyler on the Square, directly across from Cafe 1948 for a short photo walk around Downtown Tyler that will culminate around 1 p.m. at Piney Woods Darkroom on 231 S. College Ave (by Caldwell Auditorium and on the same block as Tyler Public Library). Keep in touch for more details, and please feel free to drop by the darkroom before then! We are open Tuesday-Saturday, noon-6. And also consider making tax-deductible donations to us, since we are 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. These workshops are designed to develop critical thinking skills, advocate for cognitive development, and provide a healthy space for our youth to express their emotions and concerns.
