Starbucks Grand Opening

Mom’s Night Out! Downtown Tyler

Playhouse Creatures by April De Angelis

The year is 1669, a bawdy and troublesome time. Theaters have just reopened after seventeen years of Puritan suppression. There is a surge in dramatic writing and the first English actresses appear on stage. Playhouse Creatures focuses on five of the most famous (Nell Gwyn, Elizabeth Farley, Rebecca Marshall, Doll Common and Mary Betterton) to provide a moving and often comic account of the precarious lives of Restoration actresses.

Tickets $10 each for Friday night May 10th at 7:00 p.m. at the Corsicana Public Library (100 N. 12th Street, Corsicana, Texas) or Saturday May 11th tours will kick off at Oakwood Cemetery at 5:30 and continue every 15 minutes with the last tour at 7:00. We are so grateful to everyone who has supported us in the past. This year our actors will portray some well-known oil and cattlemen, a mystery or two and a celebrity or two. Names like Pole Edens and Fred Allison, Jack Sisco and Mr. Presley (is he, or isn’t he?) … AND MORE! You will be entertained and learn a few tidbits about Corsicana and Navarro County history! SFA Gardens Science Adventure: Botany Bliss

Join Kay Jenkins, SFA Gardens environmental education programs coordinator, for a Saturday Science Family Adventure at 9 a.m. on May 11 at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center located at 2900 Raguet St. Attendees will learn how botanists identify plants using characteristics such as overall size, leaf shape, flower parts and more. Learning and using these characteristics is similar to the way we recognize the humans with whom we interact daily. Young attendees will be encouraged to use their observation skills and build their appreciation for the biodiversity and beauty of the natural world around them as they participate in a guided tour of the gardens at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center.

We are having a Spring Fling adoption event here at our shelter. We would love to see everyone spring out of your beds and come to our shelter. We have so many dogs in our shelter that would love to run around and have a loving home. Our adoption fee will be FREE that is right Free adoptions, so you do not want to miss it. Also, if you do rent than we do ask that you bring your lease agreement, if you stay on a family property bring a note stating the animal is allowed on that property. We also ask if you have other animals in your home to bring their proof of rabies and sterilization to the event.
