Know Your Rocks

  • When: 10am-1pm
  • Where: Kurth Memorial Library II, Lufkin

Learn about rocks and minerals at the library! The Houston Museum of Natural Science will be visiting us to present six 30-minute sessions to teach children about rock classification with hands-on activities. Learn about the many everyday uses of rocks and minerals! See why rocks and minerals are so fascinating, and how they make up an essential part of our lives! The 30-minute education sessions are recommended for kids in 3rd grade and up, but all ages are welcome. Each session is limited to 30 children and tickets will be handed out the day of the program on a first come, first served basis. Other activities will be available during this time period for those waiting for their session to begin, including a craft and a gem dig for kids of all ages. This event is free and open to everyone.

Hike Through History 2024

  • When: 8am
  • Where: Sterne-Hoya House Museum and Library, Nacogdoches

As part of National Trails Day through the American Hiking Society, Nacogdoches Historic Sites will host their annual Hike through History, where participants will take a hike through historic neighborhoods, trails and areas with significant stories. On Saturday, June 22nd (date changed from June 1st due to rain) at 8:00 am, we will begin the Hike through History at the Sterne-Hoya House 211 S. Lanana St. The hike this year will focus on the life and efforts of Dr. Ab Abernethy and his work on the Lanana Creek Trail. Big Ross: A Wetland Inspired Painting Workshop

Join us at the Arboretum to create your very own landscape painting inspired by our bog. A short nature hike of about half a mile will take us through the forest into our Bog Overlook. Just Breathe Pop Up Art Show

Puzzle Contest: The 1000-Piece Version

  • When: 2pm-6pm
  • Where: The Board Room, Tyler
  • Cost: $25 per team

We’re having a puzzle contest! The rules are simple: bring your team of up to four players and compete against other teams to be the first to complete a 1000-piece puzzle! The first team to finish the puzzle wins. Each member of the winning team will receive a copy of the puzzle to keep, AND we will take a photo of the winning team, turn it into a puzzle, and have the winning team return to complete and autograph it. We’ll frame and hang the puzzle in-store to let everyone know how awesome they are! Registration is $25 per team (plus sales tax), limited to eight teams. Registration must be done in-person at the store, so stop by to register your team soon! *We strongly suggest you pre-register for all paid events at The Board Room - Tyler as soon as possible. Spaces are limited and will fill up quickly. Arriving at the beginning of an event to register will not guarantee you a seat.

Moon Phases Oreo Activity
