Deep within the East Texas woods, on the outskirts of Tyler, there is a safe haven for exotic animals in need of a peaceful home. Since 1995, the Tiger Creek Animal Sanctuary has been a refuge for neglected animals of all shapes and sizes. Today, they continue to rescue, rehab, and aid in a wide variety of conservation efforts.

THE BIG CATS

If you couldn’t tell by their name, Tiger Creek is passionate about creating a safe, rejuvenating environment for felines. Since its origin, Tiger Creek has rescued over 75 big cats from harsh and troubling circumstances. While staying here, the cats are well taken care of so that they can grow into the prowling and powerful creatures they are meant to be.

Tours are available again here at Tiger Creek! While you are here, you will get to meet many of these majestic cats. Enjoy the playful pouncing from Satara, the sanctuary’s newest cat. She was rescued from the Dallas area and is now thriving in her new home. She loves hop around and show off in front of visitors. (Much like my house cat.)

Aside from tigers, they also host other exotic cats like a serval, cougar, and more! One of the most eye-catching is Max, the regal male lion. During a visit, you can hear his glorious utterances and behold his fabulous mane. It’s no wonder why he is the king of the jungle!

A REFUGE FOR ALL

Alongside their successful efforts of preservation for tigers and other big cats, Tiger Creek Animal Sanctuary provides a safe place for many other species too! As you stroll around the grounds, you will meet a variety of critters, big and small. From the silly ring-tailed lemur duo to the graceful one-winged owl. There is also a little gang of goats that keep grass and brush cleared up. The love for all animals is on full display at Tiger Creek.

Though it is so much fun meeting all of the wonderful creatures here, the team’s mission is very important. And YOU can help support these efforts in some pretty amazing ways! Through donations, volunteering, or even joining their Big Cat Internship Program, you can help give life to the animals here and beyond.
