Our 1 Minute Pit Stop series aims to be a quick highlight of some neat places to visit while you are out and about in East Texas!


Sea Scouts Ship 400

The Boy Scouts of America have long taught practical and mental skills to the thriving youth of this wonderful nation since 1910.

Sea Scouting was a branch off of the main organization that helped hone the abilities of young boys through learning maritime necessitates. Tying complex knots, ocean navigation, and so on.

In 1936, a local Jacksonville chapter was formed after the construction of four buildings by the Works Progress Administration, one of which in the shape of a ship!

For nearly 15yrs, this park area served as a fun and educational location to help give local children opportunity during an uncertain time in America.

Today, you can visit this very park! The space is old and peaceful. A perfect little getaway to have a picnic and lots of fun like the scouts did eras ago.
