1min Pitstop: Spooky Drive through the Pines

Old Stagecoach Road Marshall, TX

Old Stagecoach Road

Back in the 1800′s, before the age of automobiles, the most common way of travel was by horse and wagon.

After Texas joined the United States in 1845, transversing to and from this newly found state was very popular.

A commonly used highway was the one that connected Marshall, TX to Shreveport, LA. Later known as the Old Stagecoach Road.

Today, you can actually take your own vehicle down this ancient path. *Be cautious, it can get quite muddy out there.

As you cruise through the backwoods, admire the unique and hilly terrain.

You can imagine what life would have been like back then. No GPS. Fear of potential bandits. Eerie noises coming from deep within the forest.

It’s no surprise that this East Texas dirt road has gotten a spooky reputation.

Many Marshall locals can tell you plenty of haunting tales of unexplainable sights seen while making their way down the trail.

We didn’t see any spirits or ghouls on our visit. But that doesn’t stop nation-wide ghost hunters from visiting each year.

This iconic dirt road has become a part of Marhsall’s absolutely rich culture. Even influencing a local craft beer from the downtown brewery, Rüeggenbach Brewing Co.
