1min Pitstop: Fun on the Bayou

Port Jefferson History & Nature Center Jefferson, TX

Port Jefferson History & Nature Center

Downtown Jefferson is full of good eats, unique shopping and one-of-a-kind experiences.

With plenty of things to keep you busy, it’s good to take a nice reprieve from the busy weekend.

The Port Jefferson History & Nature Center offers a great nature-break with its walking trails alongside Big Cypress Bayou, including many historical and artistic landmarks throughout.

We started out on the Wharf Street Trail, taking in the views of the impressive wooden trestle that upholds the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad and a brief “hello” to Bigfoot.

We later made our way across of the lengthy walking bridge known as the Bottomland Forest Trail. This path was absolutely beautiful, filled with many bald cypress trees and sculpture installations.
