Starr Family Home
The city of Marshall is home to rich history and super fun experiences.
Recently, we toured the entire town with our friends from Visit Marshall.
On our journey we stopped by what is now officially known as the Starr Family Home State Historic Site.
For over 150 years, this family homestead has been a symbol of community, resilience and beauty.
As you walk through the front doors, it’s as if time has been completely frozen since the 1870’s. Elegant furniture, handwritten journals and well preserved photographs line the entirety of the home.

Discover what life was like during this era of East Texas with beautiful items such as Clara Starr’s mother’s (Sarah Fry Clapp) formal gown and the household’s kitchen with their antique oven. As you stroll about you can just imagine the stories and interactions of the beloved Starr family.
The historical site staff that run this home also host tons of period-related events, great for family educational opportunities. And also super fun! :)
The Starr Family Home is a must see for any visitors to this wonderful city.
