Flowing at the Heart of the City

Culbertson Fountain Paris, TX

Here at The East Texas Weekend we have a soft spot for local history.

One of the most elegant, historic structures in the region has to be the Culbertson Fountain at the center of Paris, TX.

This nearly century old fountain was given to the city as a gift from local philanthropist, John James Culbertson.

Culbertson found his success in the oil industry and was an important active member of this East Texas community.

In 1916, a devastating fire consumed much of Paris, TX. Locals would go on to rebuild, including aid from Culbertson.

As a symbol of rebirth after a tragic event, Culbertson funded the structure of a massive foundation at the heart of the city.

Inspired by Italian design, this wonderfully carved marble monument still flows today and is as beautiful as ever!

With plenty of shade and close to many of the popular eateries and shops, the fountain area makes for a perfect hangout spot while exploring the city.

The Culbertson Fountain can be found right across from: 15 E Plaza A, Paris, TX 75460
