As you enter the massively tall gates, welcomed by flowing flags of each United State military branch, you can’t but gain a sense of awe by the magnitude of sacrifice given by East Texas veterans.
The Red River Valley Veterans Memorial offers an unforgettable stroll through their breathtaking complex, as you reflect on the cost of war and service.
Visit monuments and plagues of all shapes and sizes. Each designated to a specific military unit or foreign war.
On the North and South walls, you can find two beautiful, impactful sculptures. The Gold Star Family Monument honors relatives and families who have lost loved ones as they sacrificed for our American freedoms, while the War Dog Monument remembers the brave working dogs and their handlers who offered key roles in many military operations.
Towards the very back of the courtyard lies a few special wartime relics, though you probably already noticed one of them when you walked in. Positioned way up in the sky is the stunning AH-1P Cobra Helicopter, alongside other counterpart vehicles like the M11AI Armored Personnel Carrier. Get up close and personal to these impressive machines that helped turn the tides of war.
