Miracle in the Pines

The Eyes of Father Margil Nacogdoches, TX

The Eyes of Father Margil

The East Texas Weekend Preview — Over three centuries ago, an extremely severe drought overtook the Nacogdoches region.

The year was 1717 and Father Antonio Margil had been ministering to local Native Americans at an established mission.

With crops dying and a dried up La Nana Creek, hope for sustainability was dimming.

In a vision, Father Margil was lead to two large stones that were mostly buried in the earth.

Taking action, he struck them with his staff and fresh spring water began to flow!

Today, the waters continue to gush and you can check it out for yourself.

Take the beautiful, designated nature trail into the piney woods and observe these two wonders.

Enjoy a serene and historical experience during your weekend visit to Texas’ oldest city.

The Eyes of Father Margil trail can be found at: 805 E Main St, Nacogdoches
