Stephen F. Austin Fountain
The East Texas Weekend Preview — At the heart of the SFA campus, it is hard to miss the beautiful, and peculiar, sculpture of the man known as, “the Father of Texas.”
Stephen F. Austin is depicted in a most triumphant fashion, giving off feelings of perseverance and a hopeful look towards the future.
He stands on a massive star, with gallons of water constantly flowing out underneath. (Hence the nickname, Surfin’ Steve.)
This fountain square has become a popular meeting spot over the years. The perfect place for fraternities/sororities to host events or just a great area to sit and sip a coffee with friends.
Surfin’ Steve was looking very festive during our visit, welcoming new students to an exciting semester of studies and fun.
