Entertaining and educating East Texans through the dramatic and performing arts.
This is the heart of nonprofit organization, the Cherokee Civic Theatre.
Since the mid 80’s, citizens of Rusk, and the surrounding area, have consistently accomplished this mission with each and every one of their seasonal lineups of plays.
HITTING THE STAGE
For 53 seasons now, volunteerism and a passion for the arts flow through each show here at the theatre, as there are no paid staff or actors.
Through commitment and cooperation, this creative outlet in the piney woods hosts some of the most entertaining shows in the whole region!

Each summer, the Cherokee Civic Theatre hosts many troupes of 1st-12th graders, teaching them the process of developing what it takes to put on a excellent performance. Each group has 40 total hours to practice and complete a play, in which will be performed by the students at the end of camp.
