Wolf Creek Lake
The East Texas Weekend Preview — Shortly after publishing our highlight of the East Texas Waterfall at Nichols Green Park in Jacksonville, TX, we had a huge response of folks suggesting we visit another one in the region.
So! We loaded up and headed down to Palestine’s Wolf Creek Lake.
Tucked away in the piney woods, this park/lake is truly off the beaten path, with tons of space to fish, hike and picnic. Yet, the real treasure is deeper in the woods.
At the verrrrry West end of the park, you can discover a huge waterfall!
This feature towers at around 20ft tall, dropping into a very large pool of water.

From top to bottom, the scene is absolutely breathtaking. This sights and sounds will leave you in awe as you admire this beautiful landscape. Plus! You’ll most likely see some native critters running around, like the spunky duo of river otters that we saw!
*As you will see in the footage above, we did visit during a dry stretch of weather. So, no water was flowing down off the top. (Although, there were lots of drippings from the sides of the earth.) However! We will definitely go back during a good rainy patch and bring you Part 2!
But for now, check out this treasured oasis in the pines for yourself this weekend, and take in the wonderous environment.
And as always, obey all warning signs and explore with safety & caution.
The waterfall can be found by walking across the dam and heading left into the woods. Careful, as you will soon arrive to the very top. Wolf Creek Lake, itself, is located at: 725-141 County Rd 420, Palestine
