Longest Footbridge in America

Rusk Footbridge Rusk, TX

Rusk Footbridge

The East Texas Weekend Preview — For East Texans, doing whatever it takes to bridge together community has long been a part of the culture here.

This way of life is evident dating all the way back to 1861 with the construction of the Rusk Footbridge.

This massive structure was built in order for New Birmingham citizens to cross over the nearby creek, and the sometimes muddy terrain, to shop, attend church services and enjoy fellowship with Rusk, TX locals.

Today, this woody walkway is super well kept and available to stroll on any day out of the week!

At first glace, you will absolutely stunned by its size, as photos and videos don’t really do it justice.

Spanning 546ft, the Rusk Footbridge is referred to as the “largest footbridge in the U.S.”

Enjoy a nice walk up and down the bridge, taking in all the sights and sounds of local wildlife and flora.

Add this destination to your roundtrip bucket list, especially if your travels take you to Deep East Texas this weekend!

The Rusk Footbridge can be found at: 7603-601 E 5th St, Rusk

*All Star Bar-B-Q is an excellent nearby dining spot! A favorite for brisket and baseball lovers!
