Grapeland Public Library
The East Texas Weekend Preview — East Texas is know for its wildly exciting, high-energy fun all across the region.
But its also popular in terms of nice, relaxing settings to boost knowledge through literature and media.
In 2001, the Grapeland Public Library was formed to offer a nurturing meeting place and book rental for the whole community.
The building itself is actually the 1920’s First United Methodist Church. To this very day, the structure of the church is to its original, well-preserved look and feel. Walk along the quality wooden floors. Admire the sunshine through the many, stunning stained glass windows. And then pick out your next favorite read.
The formation of this impactful library came from the passion of the late, great Brent Alan Pridgen. He felt that every East Texas town should have its own library. So as the original church congregation moved out, he got the ball rolling on this beautiful local establishment.
