The Gary Brewer House
The East Texas Weekend Preview — In the heart of downtown San Augustine there resides a towering home unlike any other in the entire state.
Being extremely hard to miss, due to its incredible size and gothic aesthetic, this one-of-a-kind abode is the personal residence of local artist, carpenter Gary Brewer.
Over the years, Brewer has displayed his creativity and professional expertise by adding deck after deck atop his house, resulting in one of the tallest buildings, if not the most tall, in the whole county.
The structure is quite the site to behold. Admire the massive pike-like pillars and incredible wooden craftsmanship.
Throughout its design, you will also notice lots of large canvases that present Brewer’s artwork, including a huge portrait of Jesus Christ at the very top of the home.

This home is quite the spectacle, bringing a truly unique flavor to the city. If you plan to visit this weekend, be sure to be respectful and abide its boundaries as this is a private residence.
