The East Texas Weekend Preview — A fitting name for a stunning historical landmark.
The Old Half-Way Inn, also known as the Flournoy-Granberry House, served as a post office, pit stop for travelers and family home for generations dating back to 1843.
Built along the El Camino Real, this log home greeted many visitors travelling this ancient royal highway. The majority of traffic came from those trekking between Nacogdoches and San Augustine. (Thus the name “Halfway Inn.”)
Over the years the two-story “dogtrot house” saw various changes of ownership, with its preservation held together by local citizens.
Today, you can visit this hewn-log residence for yourself!

Each room of the home offers an incredible scene of what life was like during these early days of East Texas. Gather a sense of everyday life in the 1800’s with tons of personal items from the original families that lived here.
The outside of the house is just as impressive as the inside. While sitting on the massive front porch, you can just imagine all of horse and buggies that would have been coming in and out of this historic rest stop.
