The East Texas Weekend Preview — For well over a century, this Texas bakeshop has provided a sweet centerpiece for family gatherings all over the world.
The dream began in 1896 with passionate baker, Augustus “Gus” Weidman. Through his talent and friendship with businessman, Thomas McElwee, the Collin Street Bakery would boom in production and popularity. Fast-forwarding to 1958, by the leadership of Lee William “Bill” McNutt Jr., this Texas bakery would transform from regional to international, taking shape to what we know it as today.
From cookies to pies, and of course their beloved DeLuxe® Fruitcake, Collin Street Bakery offers a diverse spread of treats to enjoy.
With their iconic Christmas wreath shape, Collin Street Bakery’s fruitcakes grew to international fame with their all-natural honey-sweetened batter and loads of hand-picked fruit.
Today, you can visit their original location in the heart of downtown Corsicana!

During our trip, we stood in awe of the sheer amount of pastries nestled in their massive display case. After contemplating it all, we snagged a couple of cookies, a freshly made Petite Chicken Salad Sandwich and a free sample of their famous fruitcake. The experience was such a delight, and delicious!
Throughout the café there are tons of memorabilia and historic magazine covers that capture the passion and worldwide impact that their desserts have had over the decades.
