The East Texas Weekend Preview — Explore 10,000sqft of exhibits that tell the story of the local milk and dairy industry.
Here at the Southwest Dairy Museum, you and the family can discover a wide range of displays that highlight the early days of life on the farm to how milk products are processed.
Education and fun are the name of the game here at the museum. Visitors can enjoy a variety of engaging pieces, such as the most interesting exhibit, the milking cow experience. This interactive display allows you to get an understanding of the process by attaching an apparatus to a fake cow. They even have a designated milk collectors that you can stick your thumb in to see what if feels like.
History buff will also love their huge collection of East Texas milk bottles and other such items. They even have an original cheese press that dates back to the 1850’s!
The outside is just as impressive as the inside with a preserved, historic milk delivery wagon and a massive, five-story silo. Oh, and you can’t miss the two giant cow statues that are hanging out in the front.
