American West and Civil War Collections

Pierce Museum Corsicana, TX

Pearce Museum

The East Texas Weekend Preview — What began as a passionate hobby quickly grew into a massive, matchless collection of breathtaking artwork and relics from the past.

Throughout their sixty years of marriage, Chuck and Peg Pearce enjoyed a lifelong bond of care for each other, while greatly supporting each other’s pursuits. Whether it be Chuck’s love for Western art or Peg’s fascination with the personal accounts of the Civil War, both of their endeavors grew and grew, as well as their love for each other.

Today, their legacy lives on at the Pearce Museum in Corsicana! Tour their galleries of priceless letters, artifacts and art.

From used weaponry and tools to over 15,000 documents, the Pearce’s Civil War Exhibit is by far one of the most incredible gatherings of historical items in the entire region. Immerse yourself in the everyday life of soldiers during this wartime era with many scenes of mannequins in authentic attire and stunning photographs. You will be amazed by the sheer amount of pristine memorabilia that has been kept safe over so many generations.

Right next door, you will find the Western Art Exhibit! Stroll through this winding gallery of more than 250 contemporary works of art that showcase the forming of America’s Western society. From powerful portraits of cowboys to wonderous landscapes of mountain terrains, you will be so captivated by the talent and messages of these artists, just as Chuck Pearce was.

Another truly fascinating exhibit that’s offered here is the Robert Reading Collection, which focuses on the Hunters and Gatherers of the Blackland Prairie. Here, guests can discover Reading’s extensive personal collection of prehistoric artifacts, ranging from arrowheads of all shapes and sizes to ancient minerals of the Earth. Our favorite display was the one containing the Malakoff Heads! Three, prehistoric faces carved into stone, discovered at an East Texas quarry in Henderson County during the 1930’s.

Whether you’re a history buff, art lover or just looking for a super unique experience, your visit to the Pearce Museum will be truly unforgettable. Plan your trip today!

The Pearce Museum can be found at: 21600 County Rd 3103, Gladewater, TX 75647
