Backwoods Barkers Rescue gives dogs a new chance on life!
While being a fairly new nonprofit organization, this operation has already saved over 150 East Texas canine from dire situations this year.
Their main mission is centered around obtaining dogs who have been abandoned or are suffering from life threatening ailments, providing for them the care they need with routine veterinary visits and finding them a local foster home until they are ready to be adopted.
The adoption process for this nonprofit is fascinating, and impressive. After each rescued pup is healthy, they are then added to Niagara Dog Rescue’s availability list for a permanent home. Yes, in Canada!

The reasoning is, Canada upholds a strict, yet beneficial, ruleset for dog ownership. Therefore, these foster dogs will receive an incredible living situation. This method also helps curb the growth of the overpopulation of stray dogs in portions of East Texas.
Backwoods Barkers Rescue’s four-person team does it all from trapping, care taking and pairing up new dogs with loving foster homes around Longview, Gladewater, Henderson and beyond!
As described by the group, their impact can be seen in the newfound joy that these dogs express. From weak and terrified to fit and blissful, the transformation of these canine is undeniable.
