Nacogdoches Summer Scavenger Hunt

Nacogdoches Summer Scavenger Hunt is a collaborative event between the historic and cultural arts sites of Nacogdoches to encourage visitors to explore Nacogdoches and for residents to be tourists in their town!

Fish Tag Friend-zy

This event is held on Texas Free Fishing Day, the first Saturday in June, and kicks off National Fishing and Boating Week. Grab a friend and fish for free all day! We will have a tagged catfish fishing event all day. Catch a tagged catfish and win a prize of your choice. Hourly drawings for summer pass packages as well! The event is for anglers of all ages, no fishing license required.

Become a Citizen Scientist

Beeswax Candle Making

- Where: Starr Family Home State Historic Site, Marshall
Step back in time and experience a traditional craft at the Starr Family Home! Join us on Saturday June 6th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM for hands-on beeswax candle dipping. Participants will learn the history and techniques of candle making while creating their own natural beeswax candles to take home. Cost is $5 per participant. Space may be limited, so arrive early to secure your spot!
First Saturday Guided Hike

- Where: Caddo Mounds State Historic Site, Alto
This guided walk explores the landscape, history, and archaeology of the site. We’ll discuss how the ancestral Hasinai Caddo shaped this place and how the natural environment connects to its past.
Summer Artisan Market

Join our stylists for a fun, hands-on class where you’ll learn a new braid or hairstyle alongside your child! Enjoy quality bonding time while gaining skills you can recreate at home again and again. Each class will be led by one stylist who will guide participants step-by-step, while a second stylist will be available to provide individual assistance as needed. To ensure a personalized experience, class sizes are limited to 7 children and 7 adults.

We will have lots of food, fun, and giveaways! We are normally not open on Sundays, but we are opening for the special occasion so all of our friends and family can make it!
Dish it Out Trivia & Potluck

Join us on the first Sunday of each month for good food, great company, and a little friendly competition! Bring a dish to share—or just bring yourself—and we’ll handle the rest. After dinner, teams will form and the trivia fun begins!
