Overlook Park
The East Texas Weekend Preview — At the peak of the Sam Rayburn Reservoir lies a beautiful little park that welcomes travelers to incredible views and a nice rest from the road.
The Overlook Park is quaint, yet scenic. Pull into the entrance along Hwy 255 and right away you will be blown away by its massive, panoramic gaze that spans miles across the lake. Right in the middle of the park is a perfectly centered bench that invites you to sit a while and take in the sight.
Nearby the sitting area, you can read up on some of the local history on-top of a stunning granite plaque. Learn the story of Sam Rayburn, himself, and discover which U.S. president dedicated the area back in the 60’s.
The park is a great area to stretch your legs and enjoy the natural environment. This giant bluff is home to a group of towering pines, plenty of grassy space and a convenient lakefront for a variety of water activities.
Overlook Park is also home to plenty of wildlife, too! Many fisherman frequent the area to land some absolute lunkers. Oh! And did you see the big gator in our video? Deep East Texas is home to so many wonderful creatures!
