The East Texas Weekend Preview — Just South of Lufkin lies a massive airstrip, tucked away within the pines.
Travelers and pilots from all across the nation frequently land and take off from this tiny hub.
Whether you are on the road or in the skies, one thing is for certain... Traveling makes you hungry! The good news is, this airport is always whipping up a great meal.
The Angelina County Airport Café has become a local favorite over the generations, with its delicious entrees and incredible view. Guests are invited to come try their home-style cooking and gaze out their huge panoramic window display.
During our morning time visit, we devoured a decked-out breakfast, complete with freshly made bacon, over-easy eggs, the toastiest toast and of course freshly brewed coffee.

The café is also well known for their cheeseburgers! (We can’t wait to fly back in again for lunchtime to give one a try!)
What makes this little diner truly special is the fact that airplanes, of all shapes and sizes, consistently fly around right outside. There is nothing like sipping a warm cup of coffee and admiring these wonderous aircraft right from your table. (The weather was quite rainy during our stop, so most of the planes were docked for safety. We hope to revisit on a clear day.)
