Dialville, TX
The East Texas Weekend Preview — Shortly after Texas won its independence, a flood of pioneers began to settle in the eastern portion of the newly found republic.
Tiny communities started to blossom, such as this one found near present day Jacksonville and Rusk.
Dialville officially came to be whenever the Kansas and Gulf Short Line Railroad arrived in the area, John Dial opened up a general store and all followed up by a post office in the 1880’s.
Over time, this small Cherokee County member would become a major player in the production of the region’s icon tomato, and peach, industry.
However, the Great Depression in the 1920’s and 30’s was very unkind to Dialville, which resulted in many citizens to jump ship to different regions in hopes of financial relief.

Today, you can catch a glimpse of what life was like during the heyday of this historic town.
Along FM 347, you can pull up to what was a once popular strip of shops and amenities that many locals enjoyed every day. This historical site includes a variety of hollowed out buildings, including a now ruined general store.
Although the strip is quite dilapidated, it serves as a reminder of the perseverance of those that sought to make something special out this portion of East Texas.
The site also serves as a great backdrop for cool photography!
