On the outskirts of Jacksonville lies a beautiful, 50-acre ranch that welcomes families facing the challenges and uncertainty of autism for a truly rejuvenating weekend.
Since 2009, Elijah’s Retreat has served as an oasis for parents and kids with autism, and other neurodivergence, where they can connect, learn new skills and have tons of fun!
This sanctuary in the piney woods offers all sorts of ranch-style experiences that not only create unforgettable memories, but life-long tools for families to use while navigating autism.
Their Ranch Hand Adventure gives guests the opportunity to get up close and personal with all of the animals that live here on the property. Embark on a wildly fun hayride with plenty of stops to meet the cuddly goats and happy chickens. These experiences allow for neurodivergent guests to get comfortable with new sights, sounds and textures which can lead to monumental growth in their independence.
Speaking of building confidence, another popular activity that Elijah’s Retreat offers is their Horseback Riding Program. Right outside the barn, their graceful staff helps kiddos, and adults, hop aboard the patient steeds. Their crew mentioned how they witness the tension and fear melt away as the riders slowly trek around the arena on top of a horse for the very first time.

With all of the wonderful activities to participate in, there are many cabins on site for much needed rest. Here, families can enjoy the calm atmosphere away from all of the hustle and bustle of daily life.
