Take Your Fill from this Roadside Well

Artesian Well Canton, TX

The East Texas Weekend Preview — Along County Road 2205, in Canton, there lies a vertically hung PVC pipe that is roaring with cold, natural spring water.

For generations, Van Zandt locals have made the pitstop to fill up jugs at this artesian spring.

According to locals, the well was originally dug by Robert Faulkner in the 1950’s. Here, Robert and his family would enjoy almost limitless drinking water for their household.

Eventually, the Faulkner family move on from this plot of land. Before they left, Robert would handover access to the well to the city of Canton to be used as a free-access water source for folks in the community.

Since that day, East Texans have benefitted greatly from this local artesian well. Just about any day of the week, you are bound to find a moderate number of vehicles, lined up to take their fill.

During our visit, we simply just brought our metal water bottle. When we got to the front, we filled our container to the brim and took a sip. And wow! So crisp. So cold. It was a total surprise, especially on a toasty, September afternoon. It was clear on why Van Zandt love this spot.

On your next weekend adventure in Canton, be sure to add a visit this artesian well for a nice, hydrating pitstop.

The Canton Artesian Well can be found at: 138 Co Rd 2205, Canton, TX 75103
