The bond between horse and rider as long been celebrated as a life giving connection.
And this East Texas nonprofit organization helps bridge this avenue of joy to locals with varying disabilities.
Meet GRIT Therapeutic Horsemanship! A Flint, TX ranch that specializes in programs of adaptive and therapeutic riding.
Within their very own arena, individuals who have met numerous challenges and limitations throughout their lifetime can experiences a newfound freedom on top of a horse. While caring for and maneuvering their steed, participants can build physical, emotion and mental skills to aid in their daily lives.
Regardless of riding ability, GRIT invites those with significant special needs and to folks that are able-bodied to come experience the joys of horse-riding. Their major expertise is in helping those with “invisible disabilities”, such as learning and mental health disabilities, overcome personal obstacles through their lessons.

Outside the ranch, GRIT has also partnered with Tyler ISD’s Boshears Center to bring the riding to the students. Here, kiddos with a spectrum of specific needs can get a truly wonderous experience with a patient, kind horse.
Among all of the fun activity, the pasture land here at GRIT offers a peaceful place of solitude with many frolicking horses, pigs and one especially friendly donkey. Simply a scene that brings rest to all who step foot on campus.
