The East Texas Weekend Preview — This piney woods museum takes “Remember the Alamo” to a whole other level!
Discover the Mt Vernon treasure known as, The Alamo Mission Museum.
Taking a liking from the original design of the famous Tejas mission, this old railroad car has been totally transformed into a tiny exhibit. Inside you’ll discover loads of memorabilia and relics from the 1800’s era of Texas. Plus! View tons of educational displays over the Alamo battle itself and the founders of the Republic of Texas.
While this historical replica is the main attraction, it’s honestly just the tip of the ice berg!
Located right behind the old Spanish mission, you’ll find a variety of themed exhibits and displays to go explore. From the old East Texas schoolhouse to the giant “ship” that’s filled with Gulf Coast items, you are bound for an epic day of learning and fun here on the museum grounds. Oh! And the crew here loves to dress up in period-themed attire to give you a truly immersive, guided experience.

Speaking of guides, during your visit you are more than likely to meet Jacque Miller, the curator of the entire museum. Her personal collections, passion for Texas History and great sense of humor will leave you with lasting memories of joy and knowledge.
Throughout the year, the Alamo Museum hosts a wide variety of community events. From spooky, haunted trails to April’s Easter Egg Hunt & Chili Cook Off, there’s always fun activities popping up here!
