3 Ways to Fail Proof Your New Year’s Resolutions

Each year the most common New Year’s Resolutions fall into 3 categories:

1. Eat Healthier
2. Get More Exercise
3. Save More Money

We chatted with Johnny Barrera, owner of B-FIT Tyler, to nail down just 3 WAYS to fail-proof your 2019 New Year’s Resolutions.

1. Be Realistic

It’s so easy to think of your ultimate goal. For some it could be to lose 50 pounds, for others it could be seeing those extra 000’s in your bank account, and for some it could be eating out less. All of those are great long-term goals, but they won’t happen overnight. Be realistic with your timeline, giving yourself a chance for success. Imagine how great you’ll feel when you accomplish it!

2. Have a Game Plan

The only way to get to your ultimate goal is by having a game plan. So let’s say you want to lose 50 pounds. Start with a goal of working out 3x a week, then build up to 5x or 6x times a week. If you want to save money, start my making a budget and sticking to it for one month, challenge yourself to not spend that extra money on things you want not need. And if you want to eat out less, focus on meal prepping. Make a menu and don’t overwhelm yourself. Cook one more meal a week than you normally do, then cook 2, then by the end of the year you can strive to be cooking every meal.

3. Have an Accountability Partner

This is SO important and often forgotten. Having someone in your corner to motivate you, hold you accountable and be there for you will set you up for success. Gyms can be intimidating, so find a coach or personal trainer to help you get started. Don’t be afraid to ask for help!
