The insanely popular Popeyes chicken sandwich that sold out in just two weeks is set to return in early November, Bloomberg News reports.
Sun Holdings Inc. CEO Guillermo Perales told Bloomberg about 150 franchised-owned Popeyes locations will offer the sandwich, although a specific date wasn’t mentioned.
Fans of the viral chicken sandwich, cross your fingers. So far, it’s also not clear when the chicken sandwich’s return will be expanded to Popeyes locations nationwide.
Perales said restaurants will also beef up their staff to handle the expected rush of customers. Restaurants are hiring an additional 400 employees to prepare for the sandwich’s return, he said.
“We have been working diligently to bring the sandwich back to our restaurants soon, as we know our guests are anxiously anticipating its return,” Restaurant Brands International Inc., Popeyes’ corporate parent, told Bloomberg in a statement.
Popeyes launched the menu item on Aug. 12, and the viral sensation quickly sparked social media debates around fast food chicken sandwiches. Then, the fast-food chain announced it ran out of its new chicken sandwiches nationwide, according to a tweet from the company on Aug. 27.
Popeyes said in a statement: “As soon as we’re ready to announce a date, we will let the world know!”
