The Screen Door: The Place You Want To Be

The place you really want to be!

You know what they say …The Screen Door Ice Cream & Coffee & Tea Club is the place you want to be!

“When you come to The Screen Door we welcome you into our home,” says owner Lola May.

Lola and her husband Mark opened The Screen Door in Gladewater in 2006. They started with specialty teas, and over the last decade they’ve grown to include coffee, ice cream and antiques.

And when it comes to their ice cream, they set the bar pretty high.

“We specialize in old-fashioned floats, and sundaes, and the best ice cream that’s here,” says May. “It’s shipped in from Michigan and no body else around here has it. We’re exclusive to East Texas.”

They have ice cream flavors that include Rainbow Sherbet, Sangria Swirl Sherbet, Praline-n-Pecan, Carolina Peach, Country Apple Pie (no sugar added), Strawberry, Pumpkin Pie Supreme, Butter Pecan, Chocolate, Mocha Almond Fudge, Nana’s Banana Puddin’ (the East Texas Weekend’s favorite!!), Cookie Dough, Spumoni, Mint Cookie, Amaretto Cherry and Tennessee Toffee.

“You have to offer a little bit of extra personality, a little bit of extra care with whatever product that you’re offering the public,” says Mark May.  “And ours happens to be ice cream and coffee and lattes and frappes and things like that. But we have another little ingredient that we put with everything we make, and that’s love.”

The Screen Door is located at 106 E. Commerce Ave. in Gladewater. They are closed Mondays. But they’re open 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Sundays, and Tuesdays – Thursdays. They’re open every Friday & Saturday from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m.

You can find them on Facebook here.
