Railroad Heritage Center

The purpose of Palestine’s Railroad Heritage Center is to develop a portal to Palestine history, a justification for the title of UP “Train Town”. Relish the romance of the rails as depicted by the Domis Model RR and enjoy the various exhibits that illustrate many facets of railroading.

DIY Body Butter

Learn how to make body butter bars in all sorts of shapes, colors, and scents. Make one for yourself and one for a friend!

Jazz Jam at ETX Brewing Co.

  • When: 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.
  • Where: ETX Brewing Co., Tyler
  • Cost: Free to attend (but food & beer costs $)

Mineola Antique Show

It’s a 112 year old building filled with vintage, antique, repurposed, art, rusty items and more. There will be 20+ vendors with fun and unique items waiting for you.

First Friday Luncheon

This is an event put on by the Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce. Join us at the Crown Colony Country Club for our First Friday Luncheon on March 1st.

Hungrytown Comes to Longview 

In the past two years alone, they have toured extensively throughout the US, as well as in Great Britain, Germany and New Zealand. Vermonters Rebecca Hall and Ken Anderson, who make up Hungrytown, have been performing internationally full time for over fifteen years. Hungrytown’s songs and music have appeared in numerous television programs, including IFC’s Portlandia, Comedy Central’s The Daily Show and Neftlix’s comedy, Lady Dynamite; as well as various documentaries and major sporting events ranging from NASCAR to Hockey Night in Canada. Their third and latest album, Further West, made the top 10 on the American Folk DJ charts for two months, and at least 14 “Best of the Year” lists. “Not only is this one of the best albums of 2015, it’s one of the best of the decade,” proclaimed New York Music Daily.

Dominoes, Dance & Drinks

DJ Yogoman & Bongo Jac will be spinning Country Western, Texas Blues, Cajun, Soul, and a mix of other Southern favorites on vinyl. They will be taking requests and tips. Come dance and play dominoes while sippin on your favorite drink at the Linden VFW Post 6968. Full bar available. $5 entry at the door.

Yoga & Beer

  • When: 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.
  • Where: True Vine, Tyler
  • Cost: $10 (includes yoga and one beer)

Let the gals and guys of BeFree Yoga Tyler help you hit those goals! Practice takes place under the pavilion or in the brewery, depending on the weather, and is led by one of the certified instructors of Be Free Yoga. After class, enjoy a tasty True Vine beer in the taproom or beer garden. Namaste and drink beer at True Vine – this is a SUPER fun way to spend a Saturday morning.

Prehistoric Projectiles – Atlatl Show & Throw

Experience the challenge of primitive hunting and warfare with the atlatl in a safe archery range setting at Mission Tejas State Park! The atlatl is a tool that has gone by many names and been used by many cultures around the world. It may just be a simple lever to throw spears farther and faster, but it’s also a fantastically fun way to connect to the past and experience history firsthand. Learn the proper technique for safely and skillfully using the atlatl to propel darts down range. Then give it a shot yourself, pun intended folks! Participants should bring water, appropriate clothing and footwear for the outdoors, and be ready for a challenge!

Planetarium Family Day

Bring the family out to the Center for Earth and Space Science Education! The planetarium will be showing our children’s show lineup exclusively on this day. Family Day special: Receive one FREE child’s day pass with each adult day pass purchased, when purchased together at the ticket office. Offer not available online.

January’s Hit the Bricks

  • When: 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.
  • Where: Downtown Tyler
  • Cost: Free

The theme for this month’s ‘Hit the Bricks’ is Bouncin’ on Broadway. Bring the entire family to the Downtown Tyler square to compete and enjoy all of the activities. From 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. there will be a bounce house, obstacle course, velcro wall, rock climbing, bungee race and more. There will also be some food trucks for lunch.

Herman’s Hermits with Peter Noone

It’s time for a flashback to the 1960s as Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone comes to the stage of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at Northeast Texas Community College. The concert will be Saturday, Jan. 12 at 7:30 p.m.
