2019 Evolve Women’s Conference 

Successful women are constantly evolving. They are continually growing stronger, more vibrant and more determined to live fuller lives. The Evolve Women’s Conference will bring women with a growth mindset and positive outlook together for a full day of learning, laughter and lifting each other up. We believe in women empowering women. No matter what stage of life you are in, this conference will have something for you. We will offer both lifestyle and business track presentations and workshops led by inspirational women covering issues and topics related to life as a 21st century woman. You can check out the breakout session descriptions and select your favorites at the time of registration. Held in conjunction with International Woman’s Day.

SFA Alumni Showcase Exhibition

The SFA Alumni Invitational Showcase runs from Jan. 30 through May 3 in Griffith Fine Art Gallery on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University. Curated by Jeffery Brewer, assistant professor of art (sculpture) in the School of Art, the exhibition features works by former SFA art students and includes paintings, drawings, sculpture, metal work, ceramics and mixed media.

Spring Community Sale at Glass Recreation Center

Tyler Parks and Recreation is hosting their annual community rummage sale at the Glass Recreation Center on Saturday, March 9 from 7a.m. until 1p.m. Admission is free and the event is open to the public. Shoppers will be able to find clothes and shoes for the kids, great decorative items, furniture, books, toys and so much more at a fraction of the cost.

Longview Jaycees Trade Days

The Longview Trade Days takes place every 2nd full weekend of each month. Bargain hunters can shop around for a little bit of everything.

Gann Cemetery Work Day

To any and all with an interest in Gann Cemetery in Central: Saturday, March 9th there will be a volunteer clean up day at the cemetery. This day is to clean and beautify the cemetery. We will rake, pick up and perform any task needed to beautify the cemetery. As this will be a full day of work, volunteers are asked to bring snacks, drinks, etc. for our lunch break and any tools you may have to assist in cleanup. (Lawn & leaf bags, rakes, etc.) The O’Quinn gym has been reserved so we will have access to ice, restrooms, and electricity for crock pots. Paper goods will be provided. We will begin gathering around 9:00 and cleanup will begin promptly at 10:00.

March’s Hit the Bricks 

  • When: 10 a.m. – 11 p.m.

Celebrate National Women’s History Month with the League of Women Voters – Tyler/Smith County. The day would not be complete without the opportunity to hear some amazing women from right here in our Community! Check out the Facebook page for an entire list of events.

Tomé Chopped Competition

Eight teams will put their cooking skills to the test during the second annual Chopped Competition scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, March 9th at the Pitser Garrison Convention Center. The culinary challenge, hosted by Tomé Catering, raises funds for scholarships offered by Tome´ to high school students who want to study culinary arts in college. “We are so excited to be raising funds to help students who want to study the culinary arts in college,” said Chef Britany Vinson, owner of Tome´ Catering. “This event allows teams of five to put their cooking skills to the test while having fun and raising money to help our area students.” Eight teams will take on the competition that closely resembles the television show, Chopped. There will be three rounds, each with a different mystery basket of ingredients. Sponsors are needed for the event, which will help raise funds for the scholarships. All of the proceeds from the event will be put toward scholarships.
