On Thursday, September 13, we invite civic and business leaders to join us for our leadership luncheon at First Baptist Church! On Friday, September 14, visitors can attend our Senior Expo and then enjoy FREE hotdogs and homemade ice cream on the Camp County Courthouse Lawn! Friday evening, put on your dancing shoes and make plans to attend our family-friendly street dance, featuring the Wade Skinner Band. Saturday, September 15 promises to be fun for the entire family! Join us for a parade, carnival rides, a classic car show, a BBQ cook-off, tours of our local museums, three entertainment stages and of course be sure to shop our downtown merchants and visit our food and craft vendors. Saturday evening the Pittsburg Rodeo Association invites you to attend a Bulls & Broncs Rodeo, followed by a Darrin Morris Band concert. The Tyler Museum of Art is partnering for the first time with East Texas Youth Orchestra to bring a new dimension to their signature fall fundraiser with “Little Black Dress Blends Art & Music.” Pairing four artworks from the Museum’s Permanent Collection with musical pieces specially selected for performance by the ETYO musicians to complement the art, sight and sound will come together for a unique experience of education and entertainment. A silent auction, fine wines and a buffet dinner will cap off the evening. Event proceeds benefit the TMA and ETYO.

Artist, Kathy Tate will be teaching a oil painting workshop. Tate’s work has received numerous awards and been exhibited at National Cowboy Museum’s “Small Works, Great Wonders”, Oil Painters of America, “The Russell” CM Russell Museum, Greenhouse Gallery’s Salon International, Mountain Oyster Club, Night of Artists, Bosque Art Classic, and the Gilcrease Museum. She is a member of Oil Painters of America and is on the roster of Artists in Residence with the Texas Commission on the Arts. Supply list is available from the League. The 2018 Nacogdoches Crime Stoppers Catfish Cookout Fundraiser will be held on September 14, 2018, at 5:00 pm on the square in downtown Nacogdoches! Entertainment provided by the Lufkin Crime Stoppers Band. Tables and chairs available to enjoy the food and the band. Take-out available by walk-up or drive-thru. Tickets are $10 donation per plate. They maybe purchased in advance from a Nacogdoches Crime Stoppers board member or at the event by cash or check. Nacogdoches Crime Stoppers is a non-profit organization committed to helping make Nacogdoches a safer community.

The Hatchery Ponds will have over 5,000 hungry catfish that are ready to eat! This is a ‘catch and release’ tournament. The Cherokee Fishing Club will provide all of the equipment necessary, as well as the bait. All children entered in the tournament will receive a trophy. Refreshments will be available. Hang out with a Ranger and drop a line into history! Try your luck fishing historic San Pedro creek! All ages and skill levels, from inexperienced to angler, are welcome! Bait will be provided while supplies last, and the park will have an assortment of rods for public use- first come first serve. But feel free to bring your own bait and tackle. There will be two prizes for the biggest catch by length, one for ages 11 and under and another for 12 and beyond! Meet at The Mission. Participants are advised to bring water, bug spray, appropriate clothing and footwear for the outdoors, their own gear if they desire, and their lucky fishing hat! Remember, no license is needed. *All of our programs are free, there is a $3.00 park entry fee for all 13 years and older. We are located on Hwy 21 between Alto and Crockett. The East Texas Revive Fest is a Christian Music Festival on September 15th at the Mineola Nature Preserve. $12 in advance, $15 at the door.

Movies at the Esquire presents “Dirty Dancing” at the Esquire Theater on Saturday, September 15, 2018. Doors open at 6 and the movie begins at 7pm. Tickets are $6 for ages six and up, $3 for ages three to six, and under three is free. Concessions are available. At this time cash is the only form of payment accepted.

The Marshall Symphony Orchestra presents their annual Downtown Concert: Jeans ‘n Classics the Music of U2 and Queen! Come to Marshall’s historic downtown to hear live orchestra music play your favorite 80’s and 90’s hits such as: “We Are the Champions”, “Don’t Stop Me Now”, “With Or Without You”, and “Beautiful Day” sung by vocalist Michael Shotton.
