The East Texas Weekend Preview — Strike it rich with freshly brewed java and delicious bites.
In the 1940’s, during the oil boom of East Texas, Hawkins saw it’s own massive discovery of this precious black liquid. Led by operator, Bobby Manziel, this massive finding should forever shape the culture and future of the town.
With a nod local history and a passion for espresso drinks, the Coffee Rig set up shop in April of 2025!
Check out their monkeyboard for a wide variety of oilfield-related coffee options like their Auger Cortado and Hydraulic Latte. “Monkeyboard” is a rig term for a small platform that a derrickman stands on while working on pipe. (You’ll learn a whole lot of new phrases here.)
During our visit we enjoyed a Foamy Cappuccino and loved getting to explore all of their decor and actual oilfield helmets.

They also serve up lots of baked goods and incredible Texas Tea. (Yet, another slang term for crude oil. This place is a lot of fun!)
This rig-themed shop is a must visit during your weekend in Hawkins.
While you’re in town, be sure to check out the Holly Cow, for ice cream and BBQ, and The Waypoint ETX, to load up on all sorts of outdoor hobby gear.
